Privacy policy
This policy explains what PhotoBG does with your photos and your data. The short version: your photos are processed and thrown away, and we do not ask you for an account.

1. The photos you upload
When you use the white background tool, your image is sent to our server over an encrypted connection and forwarded to OpenRouter's image API, which generates the version with a white background. The image is held in memory only for as long as it takes to produce the result. It is not written to a database, not saved to disk and not kept in any backup. Once the response reaches your browser, our copy is gone.
2. Third-party processing
Image processing is performed by OpenRouter's image API. Your photo is transmitted to OpenRouter in order to generate the result, and OpenRouter's handling of that data is governed by its own terms and privacy commitments. We do not grant any other third party access to your uploads.
3. Accounts and personal data
There are no accounts. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or payment details in order to use the tool, and we do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.
4. The feedback form
If you choose to send feedback, the message you write is stored in Airtable, along with the name and email address you optionally provide. We use it to fix problems and decide what to build. You can ask us to delete a feedback submission at any time by contacting us.
5. Cookies and analytics
We set one small cookie to remember the language you are reading the site in. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not build a profile of you across other websites.
6. Abuse prevention
To keep the free tool available, we apply a short-lived, in-memory rate limit keyed on a hashed form of your IP address. It exists only to stop automated abuse and is discarded within the hour.
7. Children
PhotoBG is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change how the service handles data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will be noted clearly rather than slipped in.
